August Check In

Theme of the month: Back on track (somewhat)

So it seems that I was able to turn things around this past month and get back to being somewhat my normal self in all aspects of life.  Not sure how I was able to turn it around this month but plan on just rolling with it and keep it going as long as I can.  Was able to do 3 races this month... yes 3 in a month after pretty much not starting all the races I signed up for this Spring and early Summer.  Honestly it was really hard for me mentally to start the first one, to be back on that start line and not be filled with dread....  Of course after about the first 2-3 miles all was good and I went to work having a great day doing a 38 mile loop in the San Juan mountains during the Silverton 60K....  Learning to let go of the anxiety that I seemed to have built up the past year or so.  Anyways, races this month; Silverton 60K, Pikes Peak Marathon, and Staunton Rocks Marathon.  Got in a chunk of my training for Run Rabbit Run 100 with long races this month... I will take it.  It was easier for me to do my long runs as races verses just going out and putting in the miles solo.  I seem to give the runs a more honest effort.

Training Update

Back to a normal training month with over 70 hours of activity this month with 3 longer races as I stated above.  Even broke out the bike on the last half of the month which I have not ridden hardly at all the past year.  Hopefully I have enough under my belt to give Run Rabbit Run 100 on Sept 17th an honest effort and not just slog the whole way to the finish line.  Yes I will slog to the finish if I have too for I really need my Hardrock qualifier but that is not my goals.  My main goal is never just to finish, that is not "shooting your shot" as my coach says....  Goals in order from A goal to C goals: A-sub 24, B-sub 30, C- finish the fucking thing.... today on Sunday 9/5 as I write this will be the last longer run (13ish miles) before the taper starts tomorrow.

Caught up with Jerusha, Bob, Donnie, JT, Katie, Dan, Rebecca,  and three races this month where I was able to see lots of friends so it was awesome month.

Here are the total hours broken down by activity for the month.
