May Recap

"In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate." -Isaac Asimov

One of my lower mileage months of the year but that is just due to the taper and recovery for the Cape Town Marathon.  Overall pleased with this month.  Looking back on the build up for Cape Town I think I may have peaked a little bit early.  I think I peaked right around the end of April when I ran the Horsetooth Half Marathon for a PR at 1:17.  I don't know but it is how I feel.  Anyways, time to move on and get ready for Hardrock over this next month.  Hope to hit over 80,000ft of vertical in June, honestly don't really care how many miles, just going to be focusing on the vert.  Hopefully will be heading up high somewhere around the 12th or so of June and stay up there for 3 weeks or so to get acclimated like I did the last 2 times I ran Hardrock.  Just a little bit more of a challenge now since I am not 100% remote workwise like I used to be but my manager seems on board with the idea so we will see.  On other news, as of the 1st of June Don is #1 on the Hardrock lottery so we may be running a lot of it together, super pumped about that!

Also sitting at 1582 miles so far in 2026, that will slow down as I add vertical over the next 2 months though.
